Most of us will always see Dave Coulier as Full House’s lovable funnyman Joey Gladstone, but not as many people know he’s a talented impressionist who’s great at playing other famous actors and characters too. That’s why we asked him to not only show off his spot-on Albert Brooks impersonation, we had him do it as one of the most absurd characters from one of the most ridiculous comedies of all time.
In this clip from our Alpha series Talkin’ Toons, host Rob Paulsen and well-known hockey fan Coulier recreated a scene from the iconic sports comedy Slapshot. The two read the scene in which Charleston Chiefs’ goaltender Denis Lemieux explains the rules of the game as best he can with his broken English. Rob played the part of interviewer Jim Carr as his character Carl Wheezer from Jimmy Neutron, while Coulier killed playing the goaltender as legendary comedian Albert Brooks.
It’s one thing to do a great impression (seriously, close your eyes and there’s no way to know this isn’t Albert Brooks), but this is so amazing because it had the added difficulty of translating it into a French Canadian accent.
