Batman and Joker Take Over for TOY STORY’s Buzz and Woody in Amazing Mash-up

Every great hero needs a great villain, that’s why Batman would not be who he is without the Joker. And even though they’re mortal enemies, perhaps there is still hope for them to overcome their differences like another famous pop culture pair once did: Toy Story‘s Buzz Lightyear and Woody. Although that might be asking too much, because it turns out when you have Gotham’s Dark Knight and Crown Prince of Crime recreate a scene from the Pixar classic, it’s sounds a lot more sinister… but also a lot more awesome.

The latest clip from our Alpha series Talkin’ Toons is nothing like any we’ve seen from the show before. Normally, host Rob Paulsen and his voice actor guest recreate a scene from a well-known movie, with the latter reading the part in the style of one of their most famous characters. But in this incredible episode, Troy Baker, who might be the only person who has ever played both Batman (Batman: The Telltale Series) and the Joker (Batman: Arkham Origins), read both parts from one notoriously contentious Toy Story scene, doing Buzz in the style of Batman and Woody in the style of Joker.

Everything about that was amazing. The dynamic between Buzz and Woody worked perfectly when filtered through the lens of a frustrated Joker dealing with the heroic but naive Batman. And the way Troy Baker was able to flawlessly move between the two voices is one of the most impressive things we’ve seen from any guest on the show.

It’s the only place to hear the greatest villain ever get cast in a classic kid’s movie as one of the most beloved animated characters ever, and for that chance to make it even better.
