Relive the Battle of Crait with a STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Cake

The Outer Rim planet of Crait was not only was a secret outpost for the Rebel Alliance, but also served as the scene for a Skywalker showdown in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The uninhabited remote mineral planet is covered with a thin layer of white salt that when penetrated, kicks up a beautiful, deep red soil.

To recreate the action of the film, you only need a red velvet cake and a mini Resistance ski-speeder. Frost the cake with a fluffy cream cheese frosting, then simulate the surface with white sugar crystals and a pinch of kosher salt to get that final finishing touch. Let the edible battle begin!

Star Wars Crait Cake

You’ll need:
Two 8-inch Red velvet cakes, baked
Ski-speeder toy
White sugar crystals
Red sanding sugar
Pinch of Kosher salt

2 packages (16 ounces) cream cheese, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
pinch of salt
2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped to stiff peaks

In a bowl mix together the cream cheese and powdered sugar.

Stir in the vanilla and the salt.

Fold in the whipped cream until combined.

Stack and ice the the cakes.

Sprinkle the sugar crystals on top of the cake, then sprinkle with kosher salt.

Use a fork to pull across the top of the cake, revealing the red beneath. Add red sanding sugar for full effect.
