Joe Hill’s NOS4A2 TV Series Lands FEAR THE WALKING DEAD Writer as Showrunner

Because zombies, martial arts, and hard-drinking preachers weren’t enough, AMC is developing a television series based on the supernatural horror novel NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. The show is being produced by Michael Eisner’s Tornante TV and AMC Studios.

UPDATE, 4/10/18 – More than two years after a NOS4A2 television series was first announced by AMC, the network has finally landed on a creative team to bring the project to life. Jami O’Brien, a writer and producer for Fear the Walking Dead, will serve as showrunner and producer for the new adaptation, per Variety.

12/9/15 – Hill’s bestselling 2013 novel, pronounced like “Nosferatu,” follows the story of Victoria “Vic” McQueen, a young woman with a gift that allows her to find lost things. Sadly, this gift is also slowly destroying her mind. Vic’s search for help and understanding her ability leads her to a man named Charlie Manx, who just so happens to be a nearly immortal psychopath who abducts children in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith, which has the license plate NOS4A2. He drains his victims of their souls to elongate his life and remain eternally young. After Charlie kidnaps Vic’s son, she must set out to try and get him back before it’s too late.

Horror fans will quickly recognize the name Joe Hill as the author of Horns, which was made into an indie horror film last year, directed by Alex Aja and starring Daniel Radcliffe. They will also recognize the name of his father, Stephen King. Hill chose not to use the relation as a stepping stone for notoriety, and has made a name for himself as a horror author on his own merits. His other novel, Heart-Shaped Box, is currently being developed for a film adaptation by Warner Brothers, and his award-winning comic series Locke & Key is also being eyed for television and has been adapted into an audio drama starring Tatiana Maslany. Hill’s fourth novel, The Fireman, will be published in May 2016.
