Suicide Squad

IMAX has once again created a custom video countdown for its latest tentpole release, David Ayer’s eagerly awaited DC antihero team epic Suicide Squad. It’s as stylish, in its own Hot Topic way, as everything else we’ve seen so far from this film…

Starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, and Cara Delevingne, Suicide Squad lands on August 5.

Masterminds

Two of the funniest people on the planet, Kristen Wiig and Zack Galifianakis, star in the crime caper comedy Masterminds. Based on the infamous 1997 Loomis Fargo robbery, the film is directed by Jared Hess and marks something of a Ghostbusters reboot reunion, as it features, in addition to Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. Here’s the latest trailer for the September 30 release…

Jumanji

Jumanji

Sorry, Jonas Brothers haters… Nick Jonas is in talks to join Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black in the board game adaptation/remake Jumanji. But don’t worry. the former teen heartthrob has reportedly demonstrated some halfway decent acting chops in the Sundance drama Goat (out in theaters on September 23) and TV’s Kingdom. Jake Kasdan will direct the new Jumanji, slated for a July 28, 2017 release.

Beetlejuice 2

Beetlejuice_03112016

Last but not least today… I’m afraid we have some not-so-great news for those of you who are still looking forward to a Beetlejuice sequel. Despite recent reports to the contrary, the Ghost with the Most himself, star Michael Keaton, indicates the project has, well, given up the ghost.

Speaking with Variety, the actor says, “It’s possible that ship has sailed… The only way to do it is to do it right. So much of it was improvised and so much was beautifully handmade by the artist that is Tim Burton. If you can’t get close to that, you leave it alone… There are certain movies that are like Indian burial grounds. You never ride over them. Bad s— happens if you cross that. You don’t touch certain things. They are sacred.”
