Watch Keegan-Michael Key and Gillian Jacobs Improv in DON’T THINK TWICE (Exclusive)

The beauty of improv is saying yes and hoping something magical and hilarious happens with your commitment to the insanity. It’s a fleeting bit of electricity, laced with adrenaline to push you forward, and it makes for the heart of Mike Birbiglia’s latest film, Don’t Think Twice. It’s a charming little film (which we reviewed here), and now we’ve got your exclusive first look at the film that also stars Gillian Jacobs, Keegan-Michael Key, Chris Gethard, Kate Micucci, and Tami Sagher.

In it we are introduced to The Commune, a group of longtime improv comedians and friends as they take the stage for another one of their now-iconic improvised shows. It starts out with a prompt from Samantha (Jacobs) and shows exactly what it’s like to be on stage and in the audience for a bit of improv comedy.

The film isn’t just an inside look at what it takes to be very light on your comedic feet, though: it looks at the relationships that form when creating and existing in such a vulnerable, collaborative medium. Miles (Birbiglia), the ostensive leader of the group, tries to keep the gang together when success comes to Jack (Key) by way of a spot on a longstanding live sketch comedy series (*cough cough* sound familiar?). This shift shakes up the group to its core, forcing reevaluations and decisions that change the friend group’s dynamic forever.

Don’t Think Twice opens in New York on July 22, in Los Angeles and Chicago on July 29, and nationwide in August. Are you going to check it out? Let us know in the comments below!
