Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski Are Hoping for an UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT Guest Role for Tracy Morgan

Both shows take place in New York City, but the universe of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is far removed from the one that 30 Rock took place in. Even still, much of the same writing and production staff is shared between the two series. Tina Fey and Robert Carlock brought over many of their 30 Rock cohorts to work on the show about the sunniest cult kidnapping survivor you ever did see. In the acting arena, fewer crossovers between the two shows have happened, but Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski have recently mentioned to Extra in an interview that they’re both hoping for one major appearance from an old costar: Tracy Morgan.

Morgan was in a vehicle accident that turned fatal for his friend and colleague James “Jimmy Mack” McNair, when a semi-truck slammed into the back of Morgan’s tour bus. Morgan also sustained serious injuries during the accident and has since been focused on his mental and physical recovery.

Both Jane and Tina intimated in the interview that while there are no certain plans to have Morgan appear, there are certainly communications between all camps and Jane particularly would love to see him appear as soon as possible to rekindle the camaraderie she had with him while they were up to their wacky Tracy-and-Jenna antics. “I love that guy so much, you have no idea the joy and the vaudevillian antics we got into as characters on 30 Rock and I’m just rooting for him.” Krakowski told Extra, adding “Seeing him on The Today Show just broke my heart, I love him so much.” Speaking about her first day of filming, Krakowski noted that “about five of the cast members came over and saw a lot of the same … crew and myself and Tina, so it was wonderful that they come and visit us socially, so it would be wonderful to have them on set, too.”

Extra also asked Tina if there were plans to include other previous co-stars, like Alec Baldwin who played 30 Rock’s Jack Donaghy. She replied, “I would for [Baldwin and Morgan] to be a part of the show, I think, because they’re two of my favorite actors in the world. There’s no immediate plans, but yeah, I would welcome them anytime.”

How excited would you be to see a mini-30 Rock reunion on the Ellie Kemper-led show!? Sound off below.
