Fan Animated Short Mashes Up FAMILY GUY and HARRY POTTER

In 14 seasons on Fox, Family Guy hasn’t gotten around yet to a full-length episode parody of Harry Potter. But lost month, animator Patrick McCarthy created his own Family Guy and Harry Potter mash-up called Stewie Potter, and it’s remarkably faithful to the TV show that inspired it!

McCarthy animated the entire Stewie Potter short by himself, and he also voiced all of the main characters (except Meg). While McCarthy’s vocal performance doesn’t perfectly match Seth MacFarlane’s signature characters, it’s close enough and he absolutely nails the Family Guy style of humor as Stewie and Brian enter the magical world created by J.K. Rowling as Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. McCarthy also provided the score, which mixes cues from the Harry Potter films with recurring Family Guy transition music.

On his YouTube page, McCarthy wrote “I’m a HUGE fan of Family Guy and dreamt of being a staff writer for them since high school! I’m hoping they see this video and want nothing more than to offer me a job (after issuing a cease and desist, ha).”

The Stewie Potter short also casts Meg as Hermione Granger, Peter as Rubeus Hagrid, Cleveland as Albus Dumbledore, Lois as Minerva McGonagall, Quagmire as Severus Snape, Chris as Draco Malfoy, Consuela as Pomona Sprout, Bruce as the sorting hat, and John Herbert as the conductor of the train to Hogwarts.

McCarthy indicated that there will be an episode 2 of Stewie Potter, after he starts a few additional ongoing storylines on his YouTube channel.
