SXSW Saloon Interview: Cast of MY BLIND BROTHER with Nick Kroll and Jenny Slate

With SXSW in full swing, we’ve been thrilled at the turn-out we’ve seen at our Saloon at Bangers in Austin. Earlier, Malik got the chance to sit down with director and some of the cast of My Blind Brother that debuts at SXSW this very weekend.

Starring Adam Scott, Jenny Slate, and Nick Kroll, My Blind Brother tells the story of a two brothers competing for the affection of the same woman. Scott plays the athletic and charismatic Robbie whose brother Bill (Kroll) seems only be around to serve as Robbie’s eyes. Things get embroiled in competition when they meet Slate’s character Rose.

Writer/director Sophie Goodhart explains a bit more about how the project originally started as a short back in 2003 and grew from there into a feature length film. While Adam Scott wasn’t in attendance for this interview, Charlie Hewson and Zoe Kazan were there to round out the panel and explain a bit about their characters involvement with the film’s love triangle.

All too often panels like this consist of scripted talking points that seem to come out robotically. The casual joking between the cast and their tendency to be silly in their answers to Malik’s questions is a sure sign that the cast and director are completely at ease with each other and clearly confident in the film they created.

We’re going to go ahead and call it that My Blind Brother is going to be a really fun film if for no other reason than the combination of Kroll, Slate and Scott. Deadline recently released an exclusive clip of the film showing the brothers defending their lady love which seems to sum up the plot of the film perfectly.

Are you excited for My Blind Brother? Is it even possible for that cast to not make great comedy? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
