SXSW Saloon Interview – VICE PRINCIPALS with Walton Goggins and Danny McBride

The President of the United States has a lot of very important responsibilities he had to take on day in and day out. We all know this. Likewise, the Vice President has other, completely different, largely humanitarian responsibilities to take on. For reasons of national security, the two are almost never in the same place at the same time. This is 100% not the case with Principal at a high school and Vice Principal. At all. The Vice Principal usually just has to deal with the day-to-day horrors of the students. And depending on the size or the unruliness of the student body, you might need multiple VPs.

To go along with HBO’s Veep comes another series about people not in charge but trying to be, Vice Principals, created by Danny McBride and his Eastbound & Down collaborator Jody Hill. The series stars McBride and Walton Goggins as a pair of titular administrators who don’t get along AT ALL.

Our own Dan Casey sat down with Goggins and McBride on Friday at South by Southwest to discuss the new show, and that fact that – whether you like it or not – all 18 episodes which will comprise two seasons have already been shot and are ready to go. They also discuss the odd way Bill Murray (who will also appear on the show) asked to be given the script (it involves a metal box and a trip to a minor league baseball game).

Tune in all weekend to Nerdist for videos from SXSW and our #Saloon, and follow us on Twitter and Instagram so you don’t miss a thing!
