Super Cool, Super Dangerous Hoverbike? Yeah, It’s Colin Furze

I don’t know what the most exciting sentence in the English language is (my best guess would be “Would you like a free t-shirt?”), but “Did you see what Colin Furze made this time?” is rapidly climbing to the top of the list. This time our favorite, most definitely possibly crazy amateur British inventor has made a super cool–and super dangerous–hoverbike.

This invention, the one he describes as an “unhinged flying bike/human blender,” is made up of two main engines that generate lift, but does not come equipped with brakes, steering, or even a seat. Because when you are trying to make a hoverbike the “hover” part trumps all of the “bike” parts. Like it should.

This is obviously dangerous, but my god it flies, and it looks like a crazy amount of fun. Later in the video he shows us some of the trial and error he went through to generate enough lift to really get him off the ground, which is how he ended up with a sleek design that’s quite elegant.

There’s just one part of this I can’t get over though, and it has nothing to do with the complete lack of safety measures on the bike itself: how the hell can you wear a tie when you ride this? You have a motor inches away from you, and if you tilt forward your tie can get caught. I mean, if you crash you crash, at least you went down in the name of science and fun. Going down in the name of fashion though? Seems foolish.

Then again, we are talking about the guy who decided what this really needed was a fireworks gun attached to the front, so why the hell am I talking about his tie?
