Movie Morsels: Vision in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, ANT-MAN clips, Latest EX MACHINA Trailer, Vince Gilligan and Disney’s BEANSTALK

Only eight short days remain until Marvel begins dominating our summer with Avengers: Age of Ultron, followed by Ant-Man in July, and we’ve got clips from both films for you in today’s Movie Morsels. We also have new trailers for the indie thrillers Ex Machina and Maggie, and most unusual news regarding Disney’s next take on “Jack and the Beanstalk”.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Who wants to see Paul Bettany’s Vision in action? The android Avenger is showcased in the latest clip from Age of Ultron. You can check him in all his glory below. Joss Whedon’s mega-sequel, starring every actor in the galaxy, opens on May 1.

You say you want another Marvel movie clip? Man, you guys are never satisfied, are you? Okay, fine. As presented on The Late Show with David Letterman, here’s Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang stealing the super suit that transforms him into Ant-Man, with the help of Michael Pena. Director Peyton Reed’s film, co-starring Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lily, arrives on July 17.

Suicide Squad

Director David Ayer’s Suicide Squad isn’t finished recruiting members just yet. The latest to join Amanda Waller’s team of scoundrels? Actor-rapper Common, whose role in the film has not yet been revealed. The Oscar winner (Best Song for Selma‘s “Glory”) and Run All Night star will join Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Adam Beach, Ike Barinholtz, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Scott Eastwood. Suicide Squad opens on August 5.

Ex Machina

The latest trailer for writer-director Alex Garland’s AI thriller Ex Machina has us more excited than ever for what’s being hailed as a chillingly stylish cautionary tale. Starring Oscar Isaac, Alicia Vikander, and Domhnall Gleeson, the film is now playing in limited release and opens in many more theaters this Friday.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan believes there’s still plenty of life left in the beloved fairy tale “Jack and the Beanstalk.” He’s developed a “detailed outline” for a “revisionist take” on the tale, titled Beanstalk. Disney, which last ventured into this territory with the animated short Mickey and the Beanstalk, has bought the project, and Gilligan is getting Thomas Schnauz (with whom we collaborated on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul) to write the script

Abigail Breslin’s last zombie movie had us crying tears of laughter, but her latest looks like the sad kind of tear-jerker. The trailer for Maggie — co-starring Arnold Schwarezenegger as Breslin’s dad, desperate to save his daughter from an undead-spawning virus–has landed online, and it promises a gloomy, doom-laden time at the movies. Maggie opens in theaters and On Demand on May 8.
