What Secret is Luke Skywalker Hiding in THE LAST JEDI?

At the beginning of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans learned that Luke Skywalker had disappeared, and yet he didn’t take his beloved droid R2-D2 with him. That’s not to say that Luke left everything behind, and now there’s word of something the fallen Jedi Master may be keeping close to his heart. Something that may even make fans question Luke’s loyalties. Today’s Nerdist News is all about Luke’s secret, and what that may mean for Star Wars: The Last Jedi!

There are some potential spoilers ahead for The Last Jedi! If you don’t want to be surprised until you see the film in theaters, then you should probably stop reading now. You’ve been warned!

Join the only woman with a kyber heart, Jessica Chobot, as she explains the unexpected bling that Luke picked up some time during or after Return of the Jedi. According to our favorite rumor mavens at Making Star Wars, Luke somehow managed to retrieve the red kyber crystal from Darth Vader’s infamous lightsaber. The report goes on to state that Luke has been wearing the kyber crystal as a necklace, perhaps as a reminder of his father.

Does this mean that Luke’s been carrying around an artifact of the dark side for years? Mark Hamill has been teasing Luke’s potential dark turn for ages, but we kind of doubt that he’ll be following in his father’s footsteps. That spot is reserved for the biggest Darth Vader fanboy in the galaxy: Kylo Ren! Somehow we suspect that the man formerly known as Ben Solo will be eager to get his hands on his grandfather’s kyber crystal, possibly to upgrade his own lightsaber.
