Somebody Recreated the NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN Trailer in GRAND THEFT AUTO V

I don’t know what possessed somebody to do a shot-for-shot recreation of the trailer for 2007’s No Country for Old Men In Grand Theft Auto V, but as a fan of both the film and the game, I’m grateful the video at the top of the page is now floating around on the internet. I also find myself pining for a video game version of the Coen Bros. critically acclaimed film, but I suppose this is the closest we’ll ever get to that.

According to the video’s description, YouTube user Mitch L–who also created a mashup/tribute to True Detective Season 2–used the Rockstar Editor to “resemble the trailer in almost every way, except for assets that are not in the editor, such as horses.” I guess if Rockstar ever releases another Red Dead Redemption, that last bit would have been possible.

For those unaware, the Rockstar Editor is a special tool created for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V that allows players to record, edit, and share videos created from footage from both the story mode and GTA Online. Considering the endless possibilities (thanks in large part to mods) users all around the world have done some great stuff like the Full House opening credits we recently reported on.

For comparison purposes, I’ve embedded the original trailer below:

While the characters don’t exactly resemble Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Woody Harrelson and Kelly Macdonald–who all starred in the film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s novel–the creator does a pretty good job matching the locations and set pieces seen in the trailer.

What did you think of the recreation? What’s the most you’ve ever lost on a coin toss? Whatever you have to say, just comment, friendo.
