SLEEPY HOLLOW Casts Abbie and Jenny’s Mom

It’s been a long seven months since the crazy season finale of one of the biggest hits of the 2013 television season, Fox’s Sleepy Hollow. Since then, the team behind the scenes has slowly been teasing us with hints of what’s to come when the series returns on September 22.

Sleepy Hollow is back with an extended second season of 18 episodes and has made John Noble and Lyndie Greenwood series regulars. They’ve also announced the addition of actors Matt Barr and House of Cards alum Sakina Jaffrey, and that Benjamin Franklin would be making an appearance, being brought to life by actor Timothy Busfield. But that’s not all: this morning we learned that Aunjanue Ellis has been cast to play Abbie and Jenny’s departed mother, Lori Mills.

Sleepyheads like us will remember from season one that Abbie and Jenny believe that their mother’s mental instability contributed to the girls being taken from Lori and put into the system, where the girls moved foster homes often. They also faced tragedy as teenagers when they learned that their mother had taken her own life in a mental institution. However, with this casting news it sounds like what happened to their mother may be part of a much larger mystery.

For more of a season two preview, don’t miss our chat with the cast and crew at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery earlier this summer and our Sleepy Hollow coverage from San Diego Comic Con in July.

Sleepy Hollow, starring Tom Mison, Nicole Baharie, Orlando Jones, Lyndie Greenwood, Katia Winter and John Noble, returns for season two on Monday, September 22.
