Rita Repulsa’s Big POWER RANGERS Reveal is Crazier Than We Thought

“Ahh…After ten thousand years, I’m free! It’s time to conquer Earth!” O.G. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fans will probably remember the first quote from Rita Repulsa; which was repeated in the opening credits during the first season. But in next year’s Power Rangers reboot film, Rita is getting a pretty big upgrade to her backstory, and one of the fan theories about Rita’s true nature in the film has not only been confirmed, it’s even more insane than we initially believed. “Aye yai yai yai!” What does it all mean? Today’s Nerdist News has the answers!

There are potentially major spoilers ahead for the Power Rangers movie! We’re not kidding, so you should consider yourselves warned!

According to The Wrap, Rita isn’t just set up to create the Green Ranger, she is the Green Ranger! Or rather, she was the original Green Ranger around 65 million years ago. And everyone’s favorite giant energy head, Zordon was the Red Ranger! Considering that Bryan Cranston voiced monsters on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show and he’s actually playing Zordon in this film, we can’t help but wonder if he’ll actually wear the Red Ranger suit in the new movie as well!

Join host and the guardian of the Temple of Power, Jessica Chobot, as she further explores Power Rangers‘ new status quo for Rita and what it means for Goldar, one of Rita’s original henchmen on the show. The short version is that we don’t think he’s an anthropomorphic flying lion this time, and he may actually be the key to Rita’s ultimate revenge on Zordon!
