OK Go Choreographed a Zero Gravity Music Video in the Sky

This all started because of six treadmills moving in alternating directions. But now OK Go has topped all its viral videos by choreographing a zero-gravity dance on a vomit-comet airplane.

We have been teasing OK Go’s brand new music video for “Upside Down & Inside Out” for a week, and now the time has finally come, and the beloved band of rock musicians/audio-visual gurus has released the video. In short, it is insane. Not even the teasers, which let us see that the band would indeed be airborne doing acrobatic stunts, could prepare us for the magnitude of this video’s excellence.

Right off the bat, we have so many questions like, HOW? Are you kidding me? How many times did they have to practice this? How did they practice this with the constraints of gravity? Did they ever throw up while practicing? Did they get this all done in a single take?

Although we will ultimately get those answers in our forthcoming interview with the band, we can’t help but sit here slack-jawed with amazement in the meantime. The band’s aerial coordination and timing are impeccable in a situation that essentially embodies entropy. I could watch Damian Kulash and Tim Nordwind pop balloons full of paint in zero gravity for a while.

When Damian originally sang lyrics like, “Upside down and inside out, it’s like a freight train going down,” and “Gravity’s just a habit,” we could have only imagined what that band had planned to do for this song. Kudos, OK Go; you have bested yourselves yet again.
