New DOCTOR STRANGE Featurette Introduces the Sorcerer Supreme’s Supernatural World

Halloween is on its way! So there’s no time like the present to start getting ready for all the magical eeriness that comes with it. Today’s Movie Morsels does just that, with the newest behind-the-scenes look at Marvel’s Doctor Strange. Plus, we’ve got a first look at Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film Logan, the latest casting news on Mary Poppins Returns, and much more!

Doctor Strange

“Strange is a very natural bridge between what we know of as perceivable reality and something well beyond on that,” says the Internet’s boyfriend Benedict Cumberbatch in a new USA Today exclusive featurette on his highly ballyhooed debut adventure in both the Marvel Universe and the world of the supernatural. But what makes this Doctor Strange video something special is that it also features Cumberbatch’s costar Rachel McAdams, from whom we’ve heard far too little on the film…

Logan

Yikes! Poor Patrick Stewart’s Professor X may have triumphed against Magneto and the Sentinels, but he’s looking a little worn down in our first photo of the X-Men founder in Logan. Hugh Jackman’s last go-round as the man with the claws also has itself a new poster, with which the actor proudly posed on the streets of New York. Hopefully the James Mangold-directed take on Marvel’s “Old Man Logan” storyline will justify this level of pride when it arrives next year…

Disenchanted

There’s no doubt that Amy Adams is one of the of the most talented actors working in Hollywood today, but for my hard-earned money Adams’ most entertaining role remains her mainstream breakthrough in Enchanted. Apparently the people at Disney feel the same way, because after more starts and stops than I can recall, the sequel to the 2007 musical hit is finally moving forward under Hairspray and Rock of Ages director Adam Shankman. The studio hopes to start shooting by next summer… Now c’mon and get Adams herself signed to this thing, Disney!

Mary Poppins Returns

Mary Poppins

Hey, while we’re talking about Disney heroines, it’s as good a time as any to mention that the lovely English rose Emily Mortimer has just joined the cast of director Rob Marshall’s Mary Poppins Returns. Mortimer will play the grown-up Jane Banks, while Jane’s brother Michael will be played by Ben Whishaw in the December 25, 2018 release. Emily Blunt stars as the siblings’ former nanny.

The Thinning

Alright, enough sweetness. Let’s talk thrillers. Behold the trailer for social media superstars Logan Paul and Peyton List’s The Thinning, set in a dystopian future where a high school aptitude test maintains population control. The film comes from YouTube and Legendary Digital, and debuts October 12 on YouTube Red.

The Monster

Finally today… Here’s a shot of horror to help you along with your Halloween season. Zoe Kazan stars in The Strangers writer-director Bryan Bertino’s The Monster (formerly There Are Monsters). The film concerns a creature making life hell for a mom and her daughter; and the trailer has just landed online, courtesy of our friends at Bloody Disgusting
