Give yourself a pat on the back, folks, because you’ve made it through the first work week of 2017! Now let’s celebrate with today’s Movie Morsels, in which we have brand new footage from Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, the latest word on the X-Men spinoff The New Mutants, a new trailer for Rings, and oh so much more…
Beauty and the Beast
Disney clearly wants to convince fans that the upcoming live-action adaptation of its beloved Beauty and the Beast will be a faithful one, as all of the footage we’ve seen thus far suggests. Now, in a new TV spot, we get a sneak peek of yet another scene from the film with dialogue lifted entirely from the 1991 animated epic. Here’s Lumiere trying his best to offer romantic advice to the burly Beast…

The New Mutants
As many have suspected, it looks like James McAvoy will indeed reprise his role as Charles Xavier in The New Mutants, based on Chris Claremont’s fan-favorite 1980s X-Men spinoff comic. At a press junket for the new M. Night Shyamalan thriller Split, in which she co-stars with McAvoy, actress Anya Taylor-Joy, who will also star in New Mutants, updated Coming Soon on Professor X’s status. âI mean, I think James is already a part of it, isnât he?â says Taylor-Joy. Rings
Director F. Javier Gutiérrez’s continuation of the Ring franchise has a brand new trailer online, and it presents Rings as some kind of wildly demented fairy tale, the sort of thing the Brothers Grimm might have concocted were they looking to scare the crap out of 21st century teenagers. Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz, Johnny Galecki, and Aimee Teegarden star in this February 3rd release, which marks spooky little Samara’s return to the big screen…
The Girl with All the Gifts
And speaking of horror trailers, The Girl with All the Gifts looks like it’s somehow found a way to reinvigorate the increasingly stale zombie film genre, with a tale of children immune to the undead virus who are exploited by an evil scientist played by Glenn Close. Hey, so long as Glenn Close isn’t boiling a bunny rabbit or slaughtering a dalmatian for its fur, I’m cool with anything the woman does…
Triple Frontier
Finally today… Movie Morsels favorite Channing Tatum was most recently seen dancing his ass off in last year’s hilarious Coen Brothers comedy Hail, Caesar! (pictured above). The multi-talented fellow may next team up with another of our favorites, Tom Hardy, in director Kathryn Bigelow’s long-in-development Triple Frontier, a real-world thriller “set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Iguazu and Parana rivers converge.” The two stars are currently having conversations about the project. Bigelow’s been on a huge winning streak after The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, and since Triple Frontier will share their screenwriter Mark Boal, expectations for this one should go through the roof. Now if Bigelow can just work in a dance routine…
