Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars

Apparently, (Editor’s Note: Apparently!) The Force Awakens star John Boyega is such a big Star Wars fan that he couldn’t resist disguising himself in a Clone Trooper helmet and engaging in impromptu lightsaber battles with fans at last week’s Star Wars Celebration (alongside a Bossk-disguised Daisy Ridley). As for whether or not he plays a real stormtrooper or a good guy disguised as a stormtrooper in J.J. Abrams hotly anticipated jump-start of the Lucasfilm franchise, we have official word that he is indeed a bonafide stormtrooper. “But whether Finn is a good guy on the wrong side, or a bad guy who gets better, is a question director J.J. Abrams wants the movie to answer…” We can doubtlessly expect many other questions to be answered before The Force Awakens release on December 18th.

Gremlins

Gremlins

Sorry, Gremlins fans, but original Gremlins director Joe Dante (whose latest horror comedy, Burying the Ex, arrives On Demand this summer) says he will not be involved in the remake of his 1984 blockbuster. “No, because I don’t own the project,” says Dante. “It’s owned by other people.” Not a fan of most recent remakes, Dante remarked, “They remake pictures that people just didn’t want to see remade. Did anybody really want to see another RoboCop?” Meanwhile, original Gremlins screenwriter Chris Columbus says a new writer has boarded the Gremlins remake train: “I’ve seen what can happen when sequels actually work and you certainly can’t improve on the original, but you can have a different direction. So I was open to the idea and I think we have a good take on it.”
