Mads Mikkelsen’s DOCTOR STRANGE Eyes are Creepy as Hell

If you’ve seen any of the Danish movies actor Mads Mikkelsen has been in, you’ll know he can be a very sympathetic, very endearing, and very heroic figure. He just happens, though, to be the greatest go-to bad guy in American film and television these days, too, owing to his role as the baddie in Casino Royale and of course his star-making turn as the titular refined cannibal for three seasons of NBC’s Hannibal. And before he goes villain in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, he’s going to be the baddie in Marvel‘s Doctor Strange, and boy does he look creepy.

Over the weekend, we shared some pictures from director Scott Derrickson of Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the streets of New York as part of the Strange shoot. Now we have some follow-ups of Mikkelsen’s mysterious unnamed villain and a crony that look to be in the same location.

Certainly looks menacing. Rocking the scary ponytail. And what’s with his eyes? They look real weird, don’t they. Well another image gives us a closer look…

Yeah, that sure looks like the very fabric of his face is being peeled away around his eyes—perhaps because he’s seen too much evil, or has seen the darkness, or just because he needs to moisturize some more. We’ve all gotten a bit scaly if we don’t use lotion, right? Maybe he’s not a bad guy at all and just thinks Doctor Strange is a dermatologist. Who can say?!?!

This isn’t the first time Mikkelsen’s played a villain with weird eye issues; in 2006’s Casino Royale, his Le Chiffre had a peculiar tell of crying blood when he was nervous. So, see, it could be worse.

Doctor Strange is expected to hit theaters on November 4 while Rogue One is expected December 16. Sure seems like it’ll be the winter of Mikkelsen, doesn’t it?

What do you make of Mads’ broken-bathroom-tile eyes? What character could he be playing? Let us know your guesses in the comments below!
