An Official LOST Concert Will Take Place in 2016

Lost is nothing if not a divisive topic. Nearly six years after the series’ conclusion, fans still argue about the answers to pivotal questions. About the merits and failings of the controversial finale. About preferred alliances in the spiritual battle of Jack and Sawyer. Perhaps the only thing that unites all Lost devotees, in fact, is the marvel that is its use of music. Fantastically, we’ll be able to delight in this bond in an entirely new way, as composer Michael Giacchino has announced an upcoming Lost-themed concert.

Details are scant right now, though Giacchino’s sister and publicist/concert producer Maria has confirmed to The Nerdist that the concert will take place in Los Angeles at some point before the end of 2016. Ms. Giacchino shared that she and her brother have been trying to get such a project off the ground since shortly after Lost called an end to its six-year run on ABC.

Giacchino also shared the news on Twitter:

A prospect as innovative as this one—touted appropriately as the We Have to Go Back Lost Concert—demands a healthy imagination in anticipating what may actually take way on stage. Presumably, we’ll see the breadth of Giacchino’s instrumental contributions to the series. Most notable among the lot, I’d say, are “Life & Death,” featured prominently during the climactic moments of the first season finale, and “Moving On,” which scored the very final moments of the show.

But of course, there’s more than just Giacchino’s music to be celebrated. Fans will recall the versatile tastes of a walkman-touting Hurley (pre-dead battery, that is), and—better still—the musical stylings of Charlie’s all-attitude band Driveshaft. No Lost concert would be complete without inclusion of “You All Everybody,” no doubt. Who among us does not need the occasional reminder that he or she is acting like stupid people with expensive clothes?

So, no matter where you stand on the four-toed statue, how you felt about the finale, or whose side you take in the timeless Jack v. Sawyer conundrum, you’ve got to be on board with a Lost concert.

And hey, don’t sweat it if you don’t live in the area! You can always catch a flight to LA. I hear Oceanic is offering a discount…
