How Many FALLOUT Nuka Colas Could You Drink Before Dying?

Raiders antagonizing your peaceful, irradiated farm? Super mutants wanting to stuff your innards into a meatbag? Deathclaws got you down? Try a refreshing sip from the Wasteland’s most popular beverage: Nuka Cola. But remember, we are living in the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse, so don’t drink too many carbonated relics or you’ll RIP from the RAD.

In my latest Because Science, I’m breaking down the health risks from enjoying the Fallout series’ most enjoyable drink. If each bottle of the stuff exposes your character to a certain amount of radiation in the form of RAD — absorbed radiation dose — then there has to be some limit to cola consumption before you keel over from radiation sickness. This is handled quite well by the series’ latest installment, Fallout 4, which reduces your overall health the more irradiated you get, but there is a real-world limit as well.

As it turns out, it doesn’t take all that many Nuka Colas to kill you, but you would have to guzzle gallons of the drink.

November is Fallout month at Because Science! We’ve already run through the energy it takes to disintegrate someone, and before the month is out we’ll be freaking out over giant freaking bugs and whether or not they can grow to radroach sizes. Stay tuned!
