Gaming Daily: There’s an Eerie DOCTOR WHO Easter Egg in BLACK OPS III

Another week, another video game to add to the never ending pile of must play games. Star Wars Battlefront is out as of today, meaning we’re smack in the middle of another huge decline in social media activity (Thanks Fallout 4). But before you go pew pew’ing your souls away, let me get you up to speed on the latest and greatest in video game news. We’re chatting the new Heroes of the Storm update, the upcoming OverWatch stress test, a spooky Doctor Who-inspired Easter Egg in Black Ops III, and more in today’s edition of Gaming Daily. Strap on up, folks!

Weeping Angels

Creepy Doctor Who Easter Egg in Black Ops III

What’s the scariest thing in the Doctor Who universe? If you answered Weeping Angels, then I’d say that we’re seeing eye to eye. Funny enough, keeping an eye on them is the only way to survive in their presence, as they only prey on what’s not looking at them. (Don’t blink!) Treyarch decided to take advantage of the first-person perspective and pay homage to these terrifying Doctor Who enemies in Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

If you’re playing on Nuketown, all you have to do is shoot the arms off every manikin on the map. Doing so will trigger them all to chase after you relentlessly, and the only way to stop them is to keep your field of view aimed in their direction. Basically, unless you can find a nice corner to keep your back to, you’re probably going to get beaten to death. Nope! This is an immensely unsettling Easter Egg, especially on a map as compact as Nuketown. Check out this madness for yourself in the video above.

Fallout 4 Battle

All of Fallout 4‘s legendary enemies battle.

What would happen if we put all of the legendary enemies of Fallout 4 into one tightly packed area and pit them against each other in a death match? YouTube user Cosmic Contratian decided to test this idea, much to our viewing pleasure. What transpired is something Fallout fans are definitely going to want to check out in our full article here on Nerdist.

Cho’Gall enters the Heroes of the Storm arena

Out of the many interesting characters that Blizzard announced for Heroes of the Storm at BlizzCon—Cho’Gall—undoubtedly had to be the most interesting. He’s the first hero that requires players to be “drift compatible,” meaning two players control the colossal tank character simultaneously. He’s also the first “viral hero” to be added to the game’s roster, meaning the only way to obtain him is by teaming up with another player who owns him and playing a quick match. There’s no buying this guy separately!

The latest Heroes of the Storm patch (available today) is unleashing the vicious Cho’Gall virus out into the entire player base. If you aspire to have this hero in your collection, now would be the time to contact anyone you know who either went to BlizzCon or purchased the Virtual Ticket, because these individuals have all had Cho’Gall pushed to their Battle.net accounts. And, if you don’t have any friends that meet these qualifications, just sit back and wait until that sweet Cho’Gall plague eventually spreads into your friend group.

OverWatch to add a new batch of beta testers

More good Blizzard news! The OverWatch team is conducting a stress test this weekend, meaning folks who’ve been waiting for access to the beta are in luck. Starting this Friday at 9:00am PT, random invites will be going out to a slew of Blizzard fans in the American and European regions. The stress test will last the entire weekend, ending at 9:00am PT on Monday, November 23.

Players will get a chance to try out the original 21 heroes that will be launched with the game, but Hanamura, King’s Row, and Watchpoint: Gibraltar will be the only maps available. You can opt into the beta—if you haven’t already for some crazy reason—by visiting the sign-up page here.
