For years, Kratos raged against the gods and sought his vengeance against them. The Ghost of Sparta was relentless in his anger and nearly unstoppable. But Kratos has gone through some considerable changes since God of War 3. He’s a father once again, to a boy named Atreus, who will serve as his companion in the upcoming God of War sequel for the Playstation 4. And in the newest trailer, Kratos and Atreus embark on a deeply personal quest. However, the secrets of Kratos’ past and Atreus’ true nature threaten to overwhelm them as they face new and unfamiliar threats.
Unlike the previous games in the series, the new God of War will explore Norse mythology and the various creatures and monsters that inhabit it. Along the way, Kratos and Atreus will encounter a few allies as well, and the son may turn out to be more like his father than either of them expected. Of course, it just wouldn’t be God of War without some massive boss battles, and we had to laugh when Atreus asked his father if he could kill something that big.
Sony also revealed three separate special editions of the game. The Digital Deluxe Edition gives Kratos the Death’s Vow armor set, as well as a God of War digital comic book and mini art book. The Collector’s Edition comes with a 9″ statue from Gentle Giant, a cloth map of the game’s locations, the Huldra Bros carvings pack, and more. The Stone Mason Edition will have everything from the Collector’s Edition, as well as Atreusâ wooden Horse and Troll carvings, the Stone Mason Ring, and the talking Mimir Head key-chain.
God of War will be released on April 20, only for the PS4.
