Go Down the Marvel Ant Hill in New ANT-MAN Infographic

This Friday, July 17th, Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man will finally reach theaters after spending years in development hell. If everything had fallen into place years ago, Ant-Man could have been one of the first movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the comic book world, Ant-Man has a special place in the Marvel Universe: He was a founding Avenger, one of the very first superheroes, and he has a heroic legacy that spans across five decades of stories. The first Ant-Man was Hank Pym, a creation of Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and artist Jack Kirby. Hank Pym later went on to become Giant-Man, Goliath, Yellowjacket, and The Wasp.

Pym’s Ant-Man successor was Scott Lang, as created by David Michelinie and artist John Byrne. The third Ant-Man was Eric O’Grady, an “Irredeemable” character created by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) and artist Phil Hester.

Marvel’s Ant-Man movie will introduce moviegoers to Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), while Eric O’Grady will have to sit out of this cinematic adventure. But there’s always a chance that O’Grady could show up in a potential Ant-Man sequel!

To bring casual comic fans up to speed on the history of all three comic book Ant-Men and the MCU Ant-Man, a new infographic has smashed together their combined history into a single image.
