The ANT-MAN Trailer Gets the 1950’s Sci-Fi Horror Treatment

Adding a dash of Vincent Price to anything is a good idea. Why do you think Scooby Doo did it? Why do you think Michael Jackson added a VP VO — Vincent Price voice-over — to “Thriller?” Because it adds just the right amount of creep to anything. Which is why movie buff The Sleepy Skunk (aka Louis Plamondon) added the macabre legend of the silver screen to this Ant-Man trailer. Actually, “added” is entirely the wrong word — Plamondon brilliantly constructed an entire trailer based on the upcoming Marvel film using clips from a handful of classic horror movies. Created in conjunction with Vulture, Louis collected clips from The Fly, Them!, House on Haunted Hill, The Incredible Shrinking Man, and, of course, Ant-Man to construct this true-to-the-era movie trailer.

The thrilling, informative word crawls label Dr. Hank Pym as a “mad scientist” and Scott Lang as a “former thief.” Granted, Lang was heavily introduced as a thief in the official trailers, so it’s not quite as salacious as Pym’s description. Still, the clever mixture of The Incredible Shrinking Man footage featuring an ant, butted up against Marvel’s Ant-Man footage of Lang running with the ants is … F-ant-astic! (Hold your groans.)

Ant-Man debuts in theaters on July 17th, and early reviews have been extremely positive. The movie stars Paul Rudd as the titular hero Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, and Corey Stoll as antagonist Darren Cross/Yellowjacket.

What other films would you like to see get the Vincent Price treatment? Let us hear it in the comments.
