Glimpse STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS’ Table Read in New Clip

Though many of us spent the bulk of the year leading up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens dutifully following, cataloguing, and debating about every conceivable facet of its production, we’re still hungry for more material about what went into the making of the long awaited return to that galaxy far, far away. Fortunately for those of us with Hutt-like appetites for this kind of thing, we’ve got a few banta steak-sized feasts coming our way. First, fans lucky enough to be attending SXSW 2016 will get a chance to see the feature-length making-of documentary Secrets of ‘The Force Awakens’: A Cinematic Journey.

Disney took advantage of the high-profile event to release—in typical gallant fashion, complete with life-sized First Order TIE Fighters and Storm Troopers—a clip teasing one of the special features on the upcoming The Force Awakens Blu-Ray: the film’s original table read.

Even when you’ve already seen the film in question, there’s something special about going back and checking out footage of the table read the preceded the filming process. Watching the actors—in this case, a mixture of universe newbies and back-from-retirement veterans—experience the movie together for the first time is something uniquely special. Getting to see a no-doubt-still-anxiety-ridden Adam Driver face off with a probably-half-asleep Harrison Ford over open scripts is an exciting opportunity.

Secrets of ‘The Force Awakens’: A Cinematic Journey premieres at SXSW on March 14, and the Force Awakens Blu-ray will be up for sale on April 1. Are you looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments.
