Gaming Daily: FALLOUT 4 Meets GTA V in Awesome Fan Made Video

This has certainly been a busy week. Thursday’s Oculus keynote was fantastic, and gave us some insight into what to expect out of the company. Excellent games also keep hitting retailer shelves, unlike any other time this year. In the last month, we’ve been showered with AAA titles on a weekly basis. It’s been a good problem. With that being said, what games are you crushing this weekend? I’ll be hopping around Destiny and some of the other titles that require my attention. Before you go play some games, let me run through a few of this weekend’s news highlights.

In today’s Gaming Daily: Fallout 4 meets Grand Theft Auto V, Activision announces Call of Duty World League, Techland is allowing fans to be part of the upcoming Dying Light DLC, Oculus Connect 2 conference was informative, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 drops the campaign on older consoles. Fallout-4-feature-09222015

Fallout 4 created in GTA V

Of course this was going to happen. After so many excruciating years of waiting, we’re only a couple months away from Fallout 4 launching, and filling all our hearts with pure joy. Seriously, who isn’t excited to play this game? So, instead of waiting patiently for Fallout 4, the Grand Theft Auto V community figured they would take matters into their own hands. Mitch L created the above video using some mods to yield a short, featuring a Vault dweller taking on some tough raiders. It’s spectacular.

As soon as you think our poor Vault hero is down for the count, a man in a hulking Power armor saves the day. The sheer drama packed into these awesome 5 minutes is enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. The soundtrack playing alongside the action also helps set the mood.

The community keeps producing gold, and I for one am excited to see what other wild creations come from this dedicated community. It also gets me hyped to even think of what Fallout 4 is going to look like on all the platforms since it will support mods, even on home consoles. Things are bound to get weird.

Activision announces Call of Duty World League.

As the eSport scene keeps growing, it seems like Activision is trying to get more involved in that phenomenon. Yesterday, they announced the Call of Duty World League, where both pros and amateurs can compete to win money, and a ticket to the championship this fall. The Pro Division will be held in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Each location will have their own structure. Amateurs will be able to partake in the Challenge Division for a chance to win a spot on the world’s stage. As long as more attention is payed to eSports, I’m all in on more leagues opening up.

CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS III TEASER 04222015

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will not include a campaign mode on PS3/Xbox 360

Call of Duty fans that have yet to upgrade to an Xbox One or PS4 are out of luck. Activision has announced that last-gen consoles will not include the campaign mode in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Furthermore, those versions on the Xbox 360 and PS3 won’t have any of the eSport changes that have been announced. Lastly, it will be missing the weapon paint shop.

This is a huge blow to those that enjoy the campaigns of this competitive shooter. Despite a whole lot of shade usually being thrown Call of Duty‘s way, the Black Ops campaigns have been excellent in the past. Now that we are almost 2 years into the new console cycle, the financial incentive to port the story mode into the older hardware probably wasn’t there. Obviously, it’s a crappy choice for those that have yet to upgrade, but it makes some sense. There’s been a growing belief that people are becoming less inclined to even play the story mode, so this could be a real test for that thought process.

I’m never for a move that hurts the consumer, but if you’re still interested in the campaign-less versions, you will be able to purchase it for $49.99. Included with the purchase will be a digital copy of the first Black Ops. With this, it seems, Activision is implying the story mode is only worth $10.

Oculus-Rift-06112015

Here’s what you missed by not watching the Oculus Connect 2 keynote.

The second annual Oculus conference was held Thursday, and a whole lot of important information was unveiled to the world. First, the Gear VR from Samsung will be launching this November at an even $99. Oculus announced a slew of new software that will be compatible with the headset, including games, watching Twitch streams, and Netflix. This could be a great gateway for people to experience the magic of VR at an affordable price. As for the Rift, Oculus partnered up with several PC companies to feature a logo on their cases that easily informs consumers whether the hardware is Rift ready. Best of all, some of these will be under $1000. Getting on board with the Rift will still be a tall order, since you must buy both the PC and Rift. Overall, it was a good showing.

Dying-light-03142015

Be a part of Dying Light: The Following.

Surprise zombie hit Dying Light will soon be receiving its massive expansion titled, The Following. Before you get your hands on it, though, Techland wants your help. The team is currently working on a mission that takes place in an abandoned post office, and they want your letters scattered everywhere. For the contest titled “Letters from Harran”, you must send over a 200 word letter written from the perspective of a person in the quarantine zone trying to reach out to someone outside.

If you provide some great content, your letter will be included in the game with your name on it. You can check all the rules here. Techland has done a dazzling job connecting with their fans, I commend them for their great community relationship. Also, the expansion will supposedly be as large as the main game, so that’s exciting. Dying Light could have easily been contending for game of the year, but I don’t think it will garner much love compared to some of the behemoth AAA titles. Read the whole letter above.

That’s another week in the books, folks. Keep it chill this weekend, get some gaming in, and enjoy your down time. For more on video games, and everything nerdy, keep it here on Nerdist. Next week will be exceptionally jam-packed with gaming goodies, so look forward to that. Will you be playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3? If you are, which will be your preferred console?
