Fox Reopens THE X-FILES with New Behind-The-Scenes Video

In just under a month, The X-Files will return to Fox with a six-episode miniseries that reunites David Duchovny’s Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Dana Scully for the first time since The X-Files: I Want To Believe feature film!

Mulder and Scully never got a true happy ending, and they’re returning to a world that has only become more dangerous. In the first episode of the revival, conservative talk show host and conspiracy theorist Tad O’Malley (Joel McHale) reunites Mulder and Scully and introduces them to Sveta (Annet Mahendru), an alien abduction victim whose story forces Mulder to reevaluate everything he thought he knew about aliens.

Ahead of The X-Files’ return, Fox has unleashed a 21-minute behind-the-scenes video with Duchovny, Anderson, series creator Chris Carter, and several others as they offer an extensive preview of the revival miniseries. There’s even new footage from the upcoming episodes that hasn’t been previously seen.

While the overarching mythology of The X-Files will be reexamined, the majority of the new episodes will be stand-alone adventures.

“We knew the first and the sixth were mythology episodes and then the ones in the middle would be stand-alones that was really whatever Jim [Wong] and Darin [Morgan] and I came up with,” explained X-Files veteran Glenn Morgan in the video.

“We want to satisfy the mythology of it,” added Duchovny. “And then there’s going to be stand-alones and of those stand-alones there’s going to be one that’s funnier than the others.”

Duchovny is referring to Darin Morgan’s episode, “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster,” which will include a were-lizard!

The X-Files miniseries will premiere on Sunday, January 24, 2016; with the second episode debuting on Monday, January 25, 2016.
