New Promo For THE X-FILES Says The Truth is Still Out There

What if everything you believed in was a lie? This January, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) will be forced to answer that question when The X-Files returns to Fox — 13 years after its final episode aired. Mulder has always contended that he “wants to believe.” It’s even on that iconic poster in his office that we love so much. But believing may not be an option for him anymore.

At the U.S. premiere of The X-Files miniseries at New York Comic Con, Mulder was given an alternative explanation for the events he witnessed and participated in during his many years on the X-Files. It’s a potentially life-changing event for Mulder, and as Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) suggests in the clip above, Mulder is going to do something about it. Mulder’s former partner, Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) is also going to reunite with him at the FBI. As long time fans should recall, Scully has a very personal stake in this crusade as well.

During last night’s episode of Gotham, Fox debuted a new preview from the six-episode X-Files miniseries, and most of the clips came from the first episode. But there is some new footage as well, including a scene in which Mulder and Scully introduce themselves as special agents, and a shot of a little girl in her room.

Fox isn’t even trying to make a secret about the return of Mulder and Scully’s recurring nemesis from the original series. Check out the new X-Files poster that Fox dropped yesterday:

The Smoking Man X-Files
Yep…that’s William B. Davis as the Cigarette Smoking Man, who is apparently back from the dead after fans saw him get incinerated by a missile attack in the final episode of The X-Files. I can’t wait to hear the explanation for his survival…if we even get one. Series creator Chris Carter is big on questions, and not as big on answers.

The X-Files miniseries will debut on Sunday, January 24 on Fox.
