First Episode of Telltale’s GAME OF THRONES Series Available for Free, Finale Gets Release Date

Telltale Games is at it again.

The studio, along with HBO Global Licensing, announced today that the premiere episode of Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series, “Iron from Ice,” is now completely free. That’s right, you can jump right into the first episode of this awesome series completely free of charge on consoles and mobile. Along with this gift comes the news of the season finale episode, “Ice Dragon,” which will be available on November 17, the same date that the physical version of the season is set to hit stores. The disc will retail at $29.99, and is a nice offer for those, like myself, that refuse to enter the digital-only realm. Take a gander at the series in the short clip above.

“The epic conclusion to the season is the most ambitious and diversely presented episode we’ve ever produced,” says Kevin Bruner, CEO of Telltale Games. “The fate of House Forrester has been in the hands of players all season long, and the finale will be tailored to provide a uniquely harrowing conclusion for each and every player based on the decisions they have made in the game thus far.”

I’m a fan of the studio’s decision to release the intro episode for free. This strategy allows those who were previously hesitant to purchase the game to get a taste of the adventure, and those that enjoy it will be more inclined to nab the rest of the season. It’s pretty brilliant because it’s a win-win for everyone. Telltale did the same thing with Tales from the Borderlands, so hopefully they continue making the premiere episodes free once the season is coming to a close.

I don’t know about you guys, but it’s getting hard to keep up with all of these fantastic Telltale Games adventures. This team seemingly never rests.

Will you be downloading the first episode? How are you enjoying this series so far? Let us know in the comments below.
