FANTASTIC FOUR Trailer Easter Eggs and Analysis

It’s been an exciting couple of days for the First Family of Marvel. Yesterday, we blew the lid off of what the costumes would look like in Josh Trank’s forthcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Then, later that day, our concept art was confirmed by official set photos posted in an interview on Collider. And earlier today, Fox opened a portal to the Negative Zone and summoned forth the first official trailer for the highly anticipated/highly contentious superhero flick. Naturally, the trailer has set comment sections ablaze like so many Johnny Storms, but we’re not here to read the Best Worst comments; no, we’re here to analyze the footage and reveal all the awesome Easter eggs that were hiding under your nose this whole time.

One question that will go unanswered: why do they have two-way conference tables in the near-future?

  1. Colossus Prime says:

    – The trailer is cut like Interstellar.

    – I can’t be the only one who wants a fun movie.

    – I have absolutely zero problem with them making Johnny black.  HOWEVER, not making Sue also black, and instead adopted, adds an unnecessary story element that will most likely take time away from other things.  PLUS it shows a complete lack of understanding of the fan base.  It’s like the current script for the Ghostbusters reboot that has been confirmed to feature plot points of why they designed their emblem the way they do and why they use a firehouse specifically.  (granted those two elements can and hopefully will be removed once they start filming)

  2. mikedudez says:

changing secondary characters race not a big deal cause they are not the main characters. changing the primary character race PROBLEM. its like the first spiderman movie (from 2000 whatever)instead of the white guy which we all know was instead a black guy. i kinda have a problem with that sorry i love the black guy but dont use affirmative action as your excuse to have a black guy in a franchise.

  3. Michael says:

I cannot imagine this being an entertaining film. Too dark. Too overwhelmed by the concept without knowing how to build likeable characters and develop an engaging story. Like Man of Steel I think they were too concerned with the atmosphere and fight scenes and forgot about story and characters (whom we root for).

  4. Angry. says:

Here are some horrible facts. 1. Human Torch is black now and Sue was adopted into the family. 2. They don’t get their powers from an out into space trip. 3. Their powers represent the elements now. Stretch – water, Invisible woman – air, Thing – earth, Torch – fire. 4. IN PRODUCTION (they didn’t do this thank god) they were going to make Vic von doom a chick.

    • Happy says:

good. A different take. Don’t need them to keep telling the same story in the same way every time. I do agree that making Vic von doom a chicken would be weird. They will have enough CGI in the move already…don’t need a CGI chicken running around as the bad guy.

    • Dean says:

Would you like a little cheese with that whine.

    • Nikki says:

Why is it horrible that the human torch is black and sue was adopted into the family?

      • jacknut says:

This is why: Johnny Storm and Sue Storm were ACTUAL blood relatives in the comics.  And Johnny Storm was a white guy. He really was!
Now I have absoLUTEly nothing against a black superhero (in fact, some of my favorites are), but I’m of the mentality: if you want a black superhero, use a black superhero.  Don’t like the black superheroes that are out there?  Make one up!
These are time honored characters that’ve been around since the Marvel Comics boom.  No need to reinvent the, just to check a corporate demo box.  And yes, I must be a monster to say this, but Spider-Man is a white guy: Peter Parker, as cool as Morales is.
I have no problem with comic characters “of color”, but don’t take away from the fans who loved and appreciated the real, original characters by significantly altering what makes them who they are (were?)
There now, somebody help this old man off his soapbox.  And get offa my lawn!

        • samantha says:

unless you’re equally outraged about scarlet Johansson and Roonie Mara being cast as Asian and native American characters respectively just let it go. there was also no reason to bring up Morales because it’s a totally different situation. he replaces peter parker he’s not a complete reimagining of the peter parker character. I understand being upset because the johnny storm character is different then what people grew up with but we’ve been doing this to historically black, Asian, and Latino characters for decades.

    • Alex says:

Their powers always represented the elements.
