With the Oculus Rift headset hitting shelves in February, and Microsoft’s Hololens debuting later in the year, 2016 will go down in history books as the year that virtual reality and augmented reality headsets finally hit the mainstream. Not one to be left out, Apple seems to be gearing up to hop aboard the train to the “Future of Technology City,” as they recently hired one of the key Hololens engineers and are acquiring several smaller A.R. companies– all moves that point to the tech giant starting to cook up plans for their own augmented reality headset in the near future.
