[UPDATED] DEADPOOL Movie Casting Secrets Revealed

UPDATE (2/18/15):
Hot off the presses — Firefly/Homeland/Gotham star Morena Baccarin has landed the female lead in Deadpool. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she was one of a “handful of actresses who were shortlisted for the role of Reynolds’ character’s love interest.” She will reportedly “grapple with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face.” But when you’ve got a winning personality like Deadpool, everything has a way of working itself out.

While we’re beyond elated that the Merc With a Mouth is finally getting his own proper feature film with 2016’s Ryan Reynolds-starring Deadpool, we are also wildly impatient and demand to have all the information at our fingertips at all times. Sometimes with the Internet, all you need to do is ask and ye shall receive — and today ye shall receive details aplenty about what to expect from director Tim Miller‘s big screen adaptation of Deadpool.

In the past, we broke down some of the plot details and explained what you might be able to expect from the film (Spoiler alert: It’s pretty much a buddy comedy with Deadpool and Colossus). Today, join Jessica Chobot as she parses through the latest casting reports to break down for you who actors like Gina Carano, T.J. Miller, and Ed Skrein might be playing. Plus, we speculate on who could take the mantle of Colossus. As we learned in today’s Movie Morsels, it isn’t who you’d expect…

What do you think of our analysis? How would you like to see Fox integrate these characters into their mutant movie-verse? Let us know in the comments below! Then, be sure to cancel your plans so you can tune in to a brand new episode of Nerdist Play! Trust me — watching it is like eating a chimichanga with your eyes.
