What Deadpool Surviving Thanos’ Snap Means for the Future of the MCU

Wait…did Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige really confirm Deadpool–yes that Deadpool–survived the end of Avengers: Infinity War? Shortly before Disney acquires Fox, and ahead of Avengers 4, he revealed the Merc with a Mouth made it through the Mad Titan’s mass wipe out of the universe. Yep. But before you lose your head (which you can’t grow back), Wade Wilson’s fate might only be true because of a technicality. That doesn’t mean Feige’s answer doesn’t reveal plans are already in motion for how Marvel will incorporate their new properties into the MCU.

On today’s Nerdist News, host Jessica Chobot explains how Feige’s off-the-cuff reply to a clever question might be a red and black mask for the truth. Marvel could already be testing the Disney waters for Deadpool’s entry into the MCU with the PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2, this December’s The Deadpool Before Christmas. That’s not the only hint we have that the studio has begun laying the groundwork to bring in other Marvel comic book heroes when their mega-merger goes through early next year. A minor-yet-potentially huge ret-con to Scarlet Witch’s story could mutate everything we know about how she got her powers.

With how much planning goes into the MCU we’re not even sure Kevin Feige was joking when he said Deadpool survived the Snapture. Quick, somebody ask him if Professor X and Magneto did too!

What do you think? Could Deadpool really join the Avengers? Is Scarlet Witch going to be the catalyst for how the X-Men get introduced into the MCU? Tell us in the comments below what you think the future of Marvel movies will look like?
