Kevin Feige Overseeing X-MEN Movies “Makes Sense” To Disney

Ever since Disney revealed its plans to purchase most of Fox’s entertainment assets, fans have wondered what the deal could mean for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The merger is almost a done deal, but Marvel’s Kevin Feige hasn’t tipped his hand. However, while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Disney CEO Bob Iger said something that makes it sound like the future of the X-Men lies in Feige’s hands. Today’s Nerdist News explains what it means for Marvel and the two remaining pre-MCU X-Men films.

Join host and the fifth member of the Fantastic Four, Jessica Chobot, as she unpacks Iger’s MCU comments. THR asked “How is Marvel going to absorb Fox’s X-Men franchise? Is Kevin Feige going to oversee everything?” Iger replied, “I think it only makes sense. I want to be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn’t be two Marvels.”

Fox had several X-Men adjacent movies in development when the Disney deal happened, so it’s anyone’s guess if Marvel Studios is going to be immediately interested in a Kitty Pryde solo flick or a Multiple Man movie. As for the two nearly completed films, Dark Phoenix and New Mutants, both of those will drop as planned in 2019. We suspect the Fantastic Four may make their MCU debut before the X-Men, if only to give the mutants a short break before reintroducing them.

How do you feel about Kevin Feige taking control of the X-Men movies? Let’s discuss in the comment section below!
