The Vision Will Join Scarlet Witch In New Series for Disney+

11/30/18: The upcoming Scarlet Witch series starring Elizabeth Olsen for the Disney+ streaming service won’t be a solo outing after all. It appears she will be joined by as the android Avenger the Vision (Paul Bettany), who is her romantic partner on screen, and sometimes even husband in the comics, for a series called Vision and the Scarlet Witch, according to a report from Deadline.

In the pages of Marvel Comics, the two were a married couple for decades, and had a pair of Vision and the Scarlet Witch mini-series.  The duo have had many ups and downs as a couple, but they are an iconic pair, and a joint television series could be very fascinating, and lead to many future stories. After all, They even had children together in the comics, impossible though that may seen given how Vision is an android. Their two kids ended up becoming the Young Avengers known as Wiccan and Speed. If this show leads to the introduction of those characters, we are even more excited for this show!

More on this story in the original report below…

We’ve known for some time that Marvel content was coming to the forthcoming Disney streaming service, we just didn’t know what form it would take. Well, according to a report from Variety, it appears that several MCU characters are heading to the new platform next year, and at the top of the list are Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch. Although no deals have been signed yet, those characters are currently the ones being mentioned first. The series would be around six to eight episodes; it’s unknown if these are special one-off mini-series, or if they are meant to be ongoing. Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Tom Hiddleston will be reprising his role as Loki in a new live-action series for Disney+, the company’s new streaming service.

Unlike the Marvel Netflix series like Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, or even Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., these shows will be produced by Marvel Studios, not Marvel Television. That means Kevin Feige will be in charge of quality here, and that’s someone with a nearly spotless track record among fans. This will also be bigger budgeted shows than the typical Marvel fare, with the original report suggesting that each of these shows will carry a hefty, feature film-level price tag. While it’s said that some of the bigger MCU characters like Iron Man and Captain America are not expected to show up, it’s our opinion that it would be tough to have a Loki series and not have Chris Hemsworth at least make one appearance.

Disney is going in big with its new streaming service, and spending a reported $100 million on their upcoming live-action Star Wars series, and original films for the new service like Lady and the Tramp are also getting serious budgets. Speaking of Star Wars, it stands to reason that if these mini-series for popular supporting characters like Loki and Scarlet Witch work out and prove popular, things like the stand alone Obi-Wan and Boba Fett films could wind up going to the mini-series format as well. The new Disney streaming service is expected to launch in late 2019.

What do you think of this news? And which MCU hero do you think deserves his or her own series? Let us know down below in the comments.
