Bill Nye Talks Back About BILL NYE SAVES THE WORLD Season 3

In a world without superheroes, there’s only one thing stopping the Earth from total annihilation–science! On today’s very special edition of Nerdist News Talks Back we talked to the man who will once again try to protect the world with the power of knowledge with the third season of his Netflix series Bill Nye Saves the World, the Science Guy himself Bill Nye!

Jessica Chobot and Nerdist science editor and Because Science host Kyle Hill welcomed Nye to today’s show to ask what we can expect from the new season of his science talk show. It was good timing too, since we had some questions over that whole “yanny vs laurel” debacle. But if you thought a slight difference in how we hear things was interesting, wait until the Science Guy explains how tying our shoes (and a bow tie) can teach us about geometry, physics, and even protein folding.

We also wanted to know all about season three of Bill Nye Saves the World, including what ideas were maybe too big to tackle on the show. How did balloons help him explain something as massive as evolution? How does he address controversial topics like climate change?

He also told us what’s on his show bucket list, as well as his own personal one. (We’re definitely gonna need footage of him surfing.) What does he hope viewers focus on in season three? Why does he think all of us are always time traveling anyway? How can we save “less than a nanosecond” of time by flying to Japan? And if you think rockets, space travel, and photon speed is fascinating, wait until you hear Bill Nye talk about why he loves swing dancing so much.

Remember Nerdist News Talks Back airs live on our YouTube and Alpha channels at 1PM PT every Monday through Thursday, and we end the week in entertainment with Nerdist News What the Fridays at 1PM PT, exclusively at Alpha. Some days we have Winston Duke in studio, and others we have Bill Nye, but no matter who stops by every day we have your number one spot to talk pop culture (and science!) on the internet.

What was the best thing you learned from today’s show? Tell us in the comments section below.

Because science!
