A Little Makeup (And a Lot of Skill) Creates Awesome Floating Head Costume

We know so many of you are just like us when it comes to making our Halloween costumes: no price is too high to pay, no effort too onerous to deal with, no piece too obscure to go hunting for. We will do what it takes to make sure our getup is a winner. And yet, for all the time and money we put into our ensemble each October, we all got shamed this year by someone who only needed a little makeup to craft a truly amazing, one-of-a-kind costume. Well, a little makeup and a whole lot of skill.

This is the work of artist Ailish Octigan, who said she was “too cheap/lazy to get a real costume” this year, but since necessity is the mother of invention, her need for a winning Halloween costume led to this innovative and impressive solution.

You can stare at this all you want and your brain won’t properly be able to process that you are simply looking at some makeup on her neck. You could use a green screen and you wouldn’t be able to make an effect that looks this good.

The more you look at it the scarier it gets too, because it seems like she really is about to grab her head and store it in a bag.

So yeah, we’re already thinking ahead to our Halloween costume for next year (“There’s only 365 days left until next Halloween!” “364!”), but maybe we should use that time to practice how to apply some makeup instead, since this is the result of being lazy and cheap.

What do you think of this costume? Where does it rank among the best you’ve seen this Halloween? Tell us in the comments below.
