TV-Cap: Marvel Developing Sitcom, Buffy the Vampire Slayer in STAR WARS REBELS, and More

It’s Monday, and I’m feeling rather pleased about the fact that we live in a world where Buffy the Vampire Slayer is part of the Star Wars universe. Like, the actual Buffy. It’s cool. Read today’s TV-Cap to learn about Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character on Star Wars Rebels, to get the skinny on Marvel’s new sitcom called Damage Control, to see photos from upcoming episodes of The Flash and Arrow, and more.

Hello, Sister. Sarah Michelle Gellar will appear in Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels, and her role has recently been revealed. She’ll be playing an Inquisitor known as The Seventh Sister. The Inquisitor will be a threat to the crew of the Ghost and the Rebellion. She knows about Ahsoka, and she wants to track her down. I’m so excited, I’m so scared. [Nerdist]

With This Paperclip. CBS isn’t getting left behind in the “bring back ’80s shows” movement. They’re apparently resurrecting MacGyver. They have producers and a writer in place, and The Hollywood Reporter believes CBS has already handed out a pilot commitment for the series. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Clean-Up Crew. Ever think about the people who come in after giant battles involving superheroes to clean up the mess? Such a crew has been featured in a few Marvel Comics series. Damage Control follows a New York City construction company that puts the city back together. Marvel’s taking the concept and developing it as a sitcom for television. This means we could get a comedy about the a group dealing with the aftermath of superhero conflicts. The description says: “They are the ones who are in charge of returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, help to reschedule a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a superhero battle or even track down a missing prize African parrot that’s been turned to stone or goo.” I’m convinced. Jay and Patty. Season 2 of The Flash premieres October 6, and when the second episode airs, it’s bringing new faces. Photos from “The Flash of Two Worlds” show that Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) and Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten) will make their entrances. Both characters are from the comics, and I’m basically flipping out over seeing Jay Garrick in costume. See more photos from the episode at Nerdist. [Images: The CW]

Director’s Chair. Marvel’s Jessica Jones will land on Netflix on November 20 so more details are starting to trickle out about the series. For example, Marvel has announced who’s directed the first two episodes: S.J. Clarkson. Besides directing, Clarkson was also the executive producer on the premiere episode. [Deadline]

A New Fantasy. Game of Thrones producer Frank Doelger and Rome producer Jonathan Stamp are working with Beta Film on a fantasy series set in a new world. The Perished Land takes place in the beautiful world of Talanton. Beta says it’s like Lord of the Rings meets Avatar and a place of spirits, rituals, superstitions, and the supernatural. I’m not tired of fantasy on television yet, so I’m at least open to learning more about the world. [Nerdist]

A Campaign. The office of mayor in Starling City–now Star City–isn’t a great one to hold in Arrow. The last three mayors have died. However, the second episode of Season 3 of Arrow (airing October 14) will see Jessica Danforth (Jeri Ryan) throw her hat in the ring. See more photos from “The Candidate” at Comic Book Resources. Big Screen to Small. One of the latest movies to make the jump to television is Lethal Weapon. Fox has given a put pilot order to Warner Bros. TV from writer Matt Miller. Variety reports that the TV version is about a partnership between a former Navy SEAL and a Texas cop who moves to L.A. after the death of his family “and winds up teamed with an LAPD detective who must avoid stress at any cost because of a heart condition.” [Variety]

There Are Ghosts. Series 9 of Doctor Who is plugging along, and “Under the Lake” just aired Saturday. The first part of the episode set up a mystery with ghosts and an underwater base—sounds promising, right? As long as you’ve watched the episode, go read Kyle’s review of the episode.

What do you think about the concept for Damage Control? Are you looking forward to seeing the Seventh Sister on Star Wars Rebels? Let me know in the comments.
