6 Things You Missed in the New WONDER WOMAN Trailer

There’s nothing we like more than a new comic book movie trailer, and we absolutely love the new Wonder Woman trailer. Gal Gadot is our everything, and watching her kick so much ass is enough to make us yell the Golden Age Wonder Woman‘s cry: “Merciful Minerva!” The trailer has only been out for a few hours, but we’ve already spotted a few things that may have escaped notice. Today’s Nerdist News is unleashing the details!

Join Nerdist News host, and the other Amazon superheroine, Jessica Chobot, as she breaks down six key moments in the Wonder Woman trailer. Remember, this film is going “weird” on its World War I setting, which may explain the superweapon in this trailer as well as the mask worn by Elena Anaya’s character. It was previously rumored that Anaya might play Circe or Doctor Poison, but we think that she may actually be portraying Baroness Paula von Gunther, a Wonder Woman villain who was a Nazi occultist in the comics.

The trailer also gave us a brief look at Steve Trevor’s arrival at the lost island of Themyscira, but a closer examination seems to reveal that Steve was coming from behind enemy lines. It also looks like the movie is keeping a Wonder Woman tradition alive by having Gadot’s Princess Diana steal her iconic weapons before departing the island with Steve. And yet the trailer’s voiceover suggests that at least one of the Amazon elders supports Diana’s mission.

Ares also plays a big part in this trailer, as Danny Huston‘s God of War goes up against Wonder Woman in what we’re assuming will be one of the climactic battles in the film. One of the intriguing details here is that Ares is coming at Diana with her own sword!

Wonder Woman will soar into theaters on June 2, 2017; so we’ll all have to wait another seven months to see the final film. But we’ll probably get at least two or three more trailers before that.
