Way back when in 2005, before Disney bought Lucasfilm, George Lucas was working on a little pet project: a potential live-action Star Wars television series he called Underworld. No big deal, just something he had 100 episodes written for, with a potential 300 more planned. But that ain’t no thang. The project was cancelled, so don’t worry your pretty little head about it. Just kidding! Rumors say Underworld is back on the development table, as Lucasfilm head honcho Kathleen Kennedy is reviewing the century of scripts. There are also rumors that Star Wars 1313, a dark and violent video game about Boba Fett, could be in development, as we know awesome video game writer and director Amy Hennig is now working on a Star Wars project.
Join Jessica Chobot as we discuss the George Lucas project, why it might still be in development, and why we’d be excited to see a dark, sexy version of Star Wars on our TVs or game consoles, on today’s Nerdist News.
Congrats to Chelsea Butler, who won the Nerdist Holiday Gift Guide Giveaway! She’s gonna get a bundle of awesome goodies for Christmas this year. In case you missed it, check out the video Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls did with EA and The Sims 4. And there’s a new episode of The Dan Cave, where Dan Casey is talking about the crazy low-budget Star Wars sequel that almost happened.
Let us know in the comments what kind of live-action Star Wars television series you’d like to see: an underground crime family saga? A Boba Fett focused adventure? Who should star in it?!
