Why OVERWATCH May Be the Multi-Player Shooter of Your Dreams

Though rumors leaked earlier in the week, forcing Blizzard to confirm the news ahead of schedule, we finally have all of the details on their upcoming game Overwatch, which will indeed be coming to consoles Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in addition to the previously announced PC version. If you thought the new heroes and expansive world of this MMO looked cool but you don’t have a PC set-up, the gaming company has decided to open it up to the console-only crew, an unsurprising move after the success of Diablo on consoles. Blizzard announced 3 new hero characters, their PC and console price points, confirmed that the game will be pay-to-play and not free-to-play, and introduced all gameplay modes, including a new “spectator” mode, for those times when you just want to kick up your feet, relax, and watch someone else blast up their enemies. Extras that come with the Origins Edition include 5 skins and Overwatch-themed extras for other Blizzard games, like Diablo III, Hearthstone, and World of Warcraft. In addition, they announced a collector’s edition for consoles and PC that includes the Origins Edition and a freakin’ bronze statue, y’all!

Join Jessica Chobot, live from the Anaheim Convention Center at BlizzCon, for more details on the highly anticipated new game, and why one new gameplay mode means that Blizzard is serious about eSports, on today’s Nerdist News!
