Wear Cute and Geeky Earrings Featuring SHERLOCK, Groot, and More

We live in the golden age of fandom-inspired accessories. Thanks to sites like DeviantArt and Etsy, I can see and purchase more geeky jewelry than ever before. While that can be dangerous for my Paypal account, it’s so very nice to have options. One of my latest finds is the Etsy shop Nerdy But Still Girly. It’s stocked with snazzy bracelets, charms, necklaces, and cling earrings. I could basically purchase the entire shop and wear a different pair of earrings every day for months.

Si Si and Jen Jen started Nerdy But Still Girly because they couldn’t find the sort of accessories they wanted to wear. Now, they make them for all of us to enjoy. The plastic cling earrings are my favorite of their designs because they put the earrings on the fronts and backs of your ears. Clever. All the earrings are cute and cartoon-y and feature characters from franchises like Sherlock, Sailor Moon, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Spirited Away among others. Please observe Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in Exhibit A:

Exhibit B is all about baby Groot (note: he does not dance):

Can you see why I have a case of grabby hands?

Here’s a sampling of other available styles:

Find all the earrings featured in this post and many more at Nerdy But Still Girly’s Etsy shop. The cling earrings start at $8.99.

Are you adding any of these earrings to your wishlist? Head to the comments and tell me about your favorites.

I don’t understand how this is legal. I see the disclaimer that these are not licensed products, but does that really do anything?

    • Amanda says:

There is big blurry line for copyright law. Can companies like Marvel and such go after these craftsmen for using the likeness of the characters, yes. As a craftsmen myself, I’m always worried about what I can sell legally. The laws are very confusing.

      • Samantha says:

They can but at the end of the day it would be a waste of their time because the average fan doesn’t have the money to pay them back. Now if it was a huge company trying to sell the licensed product they could get in huge trouble. But they usually leave fans alone.

Ihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKBsTUjd910t’s a long video but it helps explains some of the laws as “fan art”
