You Can Quit Your Iron Man Cosplay, This Guy Won

“Wayne Berendhuysen” is a weird way to spell “Tony Stark,” but considering that this is the best Iron Man cosplay we’ve ever seen, we’re willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

In the video above, Berendhuysen demos his MK 39 starbooster cosplay. It’s more than just realistic-looking armor; it’s even more than realistic-looking armor that can transform. We’ve seen transforming Iron Man helmets and armor before, but this time the armor comes complete with “working” thrusters. The thrusters themselves must be con-safe, so they don’t shoot out anything close to rocket exhaust. Instead, carbon dioxide jets stream out of hand and back thrusters, illuminated by 10-watt LED floodlights. The result gives Berendhuysen everything but flight.

Berendhuysen describes his MK 39 cosplay as his “Eleanor,” referencing the holy grail of automobile grand thefts in Gone in 60 Seconds. (But even Eleanor has seatbelts.)

If Tony Stark actually tried to make the movements he does in the movies without some kind of system that could mitigate the G-forces involved, the billionaire would turn into chunky salsa inside his suit, salsa with hair in it. But if anyone has thought of a way to create real “inertial dampeners,” it would be Stark, right?

I can’t even think of a way to improve upon Berendhuysen’s expert creation. Add an actual laser like Grant Imahara did with his Iron Man gauntlet? Install Siri or Cortana inside the suit? Grow a well-trimmed goatee? Let me know what you think would make this the ultimate Iron Man cosplay in the comments below.
