Watch an Over-Filled 40-Foot Weather Balloon Explode in Slo-Mo

The CrazyRussianHacker has done it again! He and his glorious accent have made another science video, though really, this one is less about science than something that would delight a five-year-old. This time around, he’s gotten himself a 40-foot weather balloon to over-inflate until it blows up. We could try to speculate on why it’s so satisfying to over-inflate a giant balloon, but why bother? It’s just pure awesome. We all did it with balloons as kids and there is no denying the joy we all get from watching things explode. Ah, delicious destruction.

Even more satisfying is watching how incredibly excited Crazy Russian Hacker is to be doing this at all. With lines like, “Oh, look how big it is! It’s awesome,” you’re going to say “That’s what she said,” multiple times during this video.

So, how did he do it? He taped a weather balloon to a leaf blower (that tape doesn’t seem all that sturdy) and let ‘er rip. This guy has clearly blown things up before, though his choice to do it right next to a bunch of windows seems a bit dicey. Was the ‘sploding balloon not enough for you? You also get to watch it in slow motion, which is even more lovely.

By the way, Crazy Russian Hacker isn’t done blowing up balloons. In the notes for the video he said, “I am not satisfied the way weather balloon popped so I think I am going to make part 2 video ones [sic] I get more weather balloons.” Yes! Blow up more things! Destruction! Ahem. If you’re interested, he’s also got videos that will help you in everyday situations like how to make a fire with Nutella.
