We enjoy the simple things in life here at Nerdist. A good video game, some compelling TV shows and movies, a pile of fresh comics, and the beautiful destruction of LEGO Star Wars vehicles. You know, the simple things.
The good folks at Wired know just how to please us, because they’ve been smashing Star Wars LEGO sets for months. Back in May we brought you their destruction of the massive (and pricey) Super Star Destroyer, and earlier this month we featured another video of a LEGO AT-ST getting smashed to bits with some Ewok ingenuity. Why do we find elation in such things? Is it that we find comfort knowing The Empire deserves the destruction, or is it deeper than that? Do we feel LEGO deserves it for anytime we felt the pain of stepping on a stray piece barefoot? With their latest video we can rule out the first reason because there’s just as much fun found in the destruction of a LEGO X-wing.
The Rebel fighter’s last moments are captured and played back in slow-motion for all of us to see as it smashes into a section of the Death Star. There is something strangely satisfying about seeing 3.5 hours of build time completely undone in a fraction of a second.
We thank this brave member of LEGO Red Squadron. Know that you did not die in vain (despite the fact your movie counterpart basically did since his teammate was the space wizard son of the bad guy space wizard who never really made any serious attempt on his life).
What LEGO creation would you love to see smashed to bits? Let us know in the comments below!
