Warren Ellis and Jason Masters Target JAMES BOND 007 Comic

The name is Ellis, Warren Ellis.

Dynamite Entertainment has revealed the creative team behind its upcoming James Bond 007 ongoing series…and it’s a pretty impressive duo! Artist Jason Masters (Wolverines, Batman Incorporated) will be joined by one of the most popular writers in comics, Warren Ellis.

While Ellis has several memorable superhero runs, including Planetary, The Authority, NextWave, and more recently, Moon Knight, Ellis’ creator owned comics Global Frequency and RED may offer a better taste of what to expect from his 007 run.

“Ian Fleming’s James Bond is an icon, and it’s a delight to tell visual narratives with the original, brutal, damaged Bond of the books,” said Ellis.

The first six issue storyline of James Bond 007 will be called “VARGR,” and it takes place in the present as James Bond comes home to London after a brutal revenge mission in Helsinki. The official description adds that “something evil is moving through the back streets of the city, and sinister plans are being laid for Bond in Berlin.”

Dynamite is also planning James Bond stories set in the original time period envisioned by Bond’s creator, Ian Fleming. There are also plans for Dynamite to explore Bond’s origin in a new storyline that takes place before Casino Royale. No other creative teams are currently announced for Dynamite’s James Bond comic books.

James Bond 007 will drop into comic book stores this November.
