TWIN PEAKS Revival Releases First Official Teaser

Production has been underway on the Showtime revival of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks for months now, but almost everything about the production–including who is even starring in it–has been kept under tight lock and key. But now Lynch has tweeted out the first official teaser for the return of Twin Peaks, and it will give you all the nostalgic feels.

So what does this little teaser tell us? Well, it’s narrated by actor Michael Horse, which pretty much confirms that he’s returning for duty as Deputy Hawk for the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Department. You can hear Angelo Badalamenti’s iconic Twin Peaks theme, “Falling,” playing over an overhead shot of Snoqualmie Falls, which also seems to confirm that the new series will indeed have a similar version of the classic opening credits sequence. Neither is a big surprise, but both are reassuring.

“Location can sometimes be a character,” says Horse, of the areas in Washington state where both the original and current versions of the series are shot. Then we cut to a moment that should give all the old school viewers tingles up their spine, as the production crew unveils the “Welcome to Twin Peaks” sign from the iconic opening shots of the series. After twenty-five years, it seems the population of the town is still 51, 201.

And then there’s that strange obscured shot at the end, accompanied by what sounds like a slowed down and somewhat disturbing muffled scream. It sure looks like a man in a black suit to me, which indicates Kyle MacLachlan as Special Agent Dale Cooper. (EDIT: It appears the blurred figure is David Lynch himself). Fans of the classic series know to associate those kinds of disturbing noises with one character….the evil entity known as BOB. 2017 cannot come fast enough.
